5352 Webcast Reflection

During Instructional Leadership 5352, we had the opportunity to participate in web conferences as part of student engagement and development.  I reviewed the material covered for most of the web conferences, since I could not attend due to scheduling issues.  The first web conference had technical difficulties that resulted in the web conference ending before there could be an in-depth discussion.  I attending the following web conference on July 31st.  This web conference had a few issues, but Dr. Benavides changed the format so we could discuss via the messaging window.  The July 31st web conference was held by Dr. Benavides, and he spent time reviewing the weeks expectations and assignment at the beginning of the web conference.  After the basic topics were covered regarding the weeks assignment the Dr. Benavides spent time asking a series of questions related to Web 2.0 tools.  Also, he took time to dive further through this discussion to address and reflect about the technology our school has and or may have.  He was able to provide an opportunity to reflect as an educator what our role may look like as a principal.  Through this open discussion and style of questioning I gained a great deal of insight as a result.  I enjoyed the opportunity to reflect and Dr. Benavides led us to these conclusions and reflections.

The overall format of web conferences have been beneficial for some courses and others they have not been helpful.  I believe the interaction and questioning I experienced during the web conference in 5352 provided the opportunity for reflection.  The reflection gave me an opportunity to consider the tools that would be available to staff.  Also, this reflection allowed for insight regarding how to motivate staff to use the available resources on campus to create purpose and passion on your campus.
