My
action research project is was started and is currently being implemented with
my World Geography team. I started the
school year off by meeting with my World Geography team and discussing how we
could improve our instructional strategies to improve our student
learning. We spent time evaluating our
goals from last year, and setting measurable goals for this year. We also addressed the areas we will need to
improve our instructional strategies to improve learning and EOC test scores
from last year. We spent several hours
setting our goals and working on our first three units for the year. This time we have added writing across the
curriculum for our students to start expressing their ideas more through words
to assess their knowledge in the classroom.
I believe this implementation will improve our students learning and
allow us to assess our students understanding of the content taught for the
units. I also have implemented test
analysis with my students and they have taken their first assessment and
completed this form and analyzed their test.
Students next have written a reflective journal about their tests and
how they can improve their test scores for the next unit test and any other
formal assessment in the classroom. I
looked over the journals and have scheduled specific tutorials for my students
based on the information they have missed or failed to master during that particular
unit. I have spent time with my
administrative team looking over the EOC score data and discussed other
sub-populations we can focus and target to improve their overall scores and numbers.
